FAQ

  • I'm interested in a commissioned artwork. Tell me more.
I can do a portrait from a sitting or photographs. If you live in or near Boston, we can arrange a time to meet for an initial sitting. If you live far from Boston, you can send me as many photographs as you can of the subject to give me the best impression of that person or animal. It is also helpful to know as much as possible about the subject, so tell me stories and caption the photographs so I can understand their context. The cost of the commission will depend on the medium you want, the size of the image, and the number of subjects in the portrait. I require a 50% deposit upon agreeing to do the portrait and the remainder on delivery. Payment must be made by postal money order, cashier's check, Zelle, or Venmo. A payment plan can be worked out if it is difficult to pay the entire amount in one lump sum. I cannot commit to a completion date as it depends on many factors, both creative and practical (i.e. conflicting obligations). As with all my artwork, I retain copyright ownership and the right to display the work online and in publications. Let's discuss your project! There's no obligation to go further. Contact me.
  • Can I view a painting or drawing in person that I'm interested in?
Yes. Some of my work is in Boston, and some is in Great Barrington, MA. If you are seriously interested in a particular piece, contact me to make arrangements to see it.
  • I am drawn to a particular piece, but I'm not sure it will work in my home. Is it possible to take a painting home for a trial?
While I do not offer trials, a piece may be returned within 14 days of purchase for a 90% refund. The buyer is responsible for the cost of return shipping. I can also send additional photographs of the piece to help you decide if it is right for you.
  • If I purchase an artwork, how do you get it to me?
Whenever possible, purchased works can be picked up in Boston or Great Barrington, Massachusetts. Works can be delivered to locations within 150 miles of Boston for a flat $125 charge. Otherwise, works will be shipped at an additional expense, which will be determined by the shipper.
  • If I purchase a piece and it doesn't work in my home, or if I just don't like it, do you accept returns and offer a refund?
Purchased works may be returned within 14 days of delivery or pick-up for a refund of 90% of the purchase price. Commissioned works may be returned within 14 days of delivery or pick-up for a refund of 40% of the total price of the piece. The buyer is responsible for all shipping and handling costs at the time of purchase and for returns.
  • How can I pay for an original painting or drawing?
My online payment system is under development, so for the time being, please ignore the checkout basket. To pay for a piece, please contact me to make arrangements. I accept Zelle, Venmo and Offline Payments (cash, cashier's check, postal money order). A price will be quoted for commissions. Upon agreement, 50% of the total is due, and the balance is due upon pickup or delivery. I retain the copyright for all my artwork. If you purchase a piece, the physical work is your property, but I retain the right to use the image for prints, my website, and publications about my work.
  • I can't afford an original pice, but I would love to have a framed print. Is that possible?
    Yes! Contact me.
